Rape claim woman found dead at her home

AN ALLEGED rape victim who was thrown into police cells has died suddenly.

Anne Robertson, from Dewsbury, broke down in the witness box when she was giving evidence against her alleged attacker at the High Court in Edinburgh earlier this year.

The decision to hold her overnight in a police station came under fire at the time.

Her complaint was later upheld and the decision was branded “disproportionate” and traumatic for Anne, who was originally from Grangemouth in Scotland. She waived her right to anonymity to highlight her treatment.

Now it has been revealed the 43-year-old was found dead in her home in Dewsbury.

Anne, who lived alone, was discovered on Sunday, May 31.

She is believed to have died of natural causes, possibly linked to epilepsy.
