Huddersfield pensioners fall victim to conmen

TWO more Huddersfield pensioners have fallen victim to heartless conmen.
Both were targeted by bogus workmen in their own homes.
Now police are warning people, especially the elderly and vulnerable, to be on their guard.
And they have also given out detailed description of the thieves, who tricked their way into the pensioners’ homes.
Det Con Constable Russ Conlon, of Huddersfield Police, is telling people not to let any workmen into their homes without first checking for identification.
His warning comes as an 83-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman became the latest victims.
On Friday afternoon the man was targeted by two men at his home on Broomfield Road, Marsh, some time between 3pm and 3.30pm.
Police say the men knocked on his door and told him there was a problem with the water pressure and they needed to look at it.
The elderly man let them in and went upstairs with one of the men to check the water.
Det Con Conlon said: "He didn’t suspect anything so went upstairs but unbeknown to him the other suspect was searching round his house and trying to open cupboards and drawers to find property.
