"But the men left empty handed."
The first suspect is described as an Asian man aged in his mid 20s around 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. He had spiky hair and was cleanly shaven.
The second suspect is a white man, thick set, with close cropped hair aged in his late 20s.
A short time later at 3.50pm a 79-year-old woman in Raw Nook Road, Salendine Nook, was targeted by a man who then let himself into her living room while she was in the kitchen.
She challenged him and the suspect said he was checking her water pressure but quickly made off with her purse containing some cash.
Police are looking for a white male, aged 17-19-years-old around, 5ft tall of medium build with short hair and a straight fringe with dark eyes and was wearing a light-coloured jumper.
He was seen running away from the property with an unknown male.
Police say that every official workman will have identification and if they refuse or cannot show it then do not let them in and report the matter to the police.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
