MON PM: Huddersfield to Leeds train delays - latest details
Jun 15 2009 By Andrew Jackson
COMMUTERS making their way home from work along the Huddersfield to Leeds line could face severe delays.
Train bosses hope to have services running normally by around 5pm but at the moment a number of trains running from Huddersfield are either delayed or cancelled.
The problems follow a lightning strike in this morning's wet weather which damaged a signalling box near Bradford at 11.30am
A spokesman for train times provider National Rail Enquiries said: "Because of signalling problems caused by poor weather conditions around the Leeds area, journeys may be delayed by up to 45 minutes.
"Services are currently subject to delays between:
- Leeds and Bradford Interchange (Northern Rail) Leeds and Huddersfield / Halifax (Northern Rail and First TransPennine Express) Leeds and York via Harrogate (Northern Rail)
"Because of the congestion this is causing at Leeds station, services on other routes to and from Leeds are also subject to delays of up to 30 minutes."
The 15.56 train from Huddersfield to Manchester Piccadilly was running around 15 minutes late while the Newcastle train at 15.57 was running late by the same time.
The 16.14 and 16.15 trains to Piccadilly and Hull were both cancelled.
