Beautiful South gig at Holmfirth

They also played two sell-out concerts at Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium.

The New Beautiful South played a gig in Hull earlier this year, as a prelude to their UK tour.

Dave Stead said the band did not really split, but took time to decide what to do after Heaton’s departure.

He said: “Dave, Alison and I wanted to continue. We’ve been twiddling our thumbs for a while, but this is what we do best.

“There are still an awful lot of people out there who want to hear our music and we still want to play it.”

Dave Hemingway said a mix of songs would be performed on tour, with some new tracks and old hits.

He added: “Alison Wheeler, Dave Stead and myself thought it would be exciting to get together again to play some songs that we haven’t had the chance to play live for quite a while and some other songs we have never played live at all.”
