Carr Green pupils make Rastrick drivers think about their speed

PUPILS are making Rastrick drivers think about their speed.
Hope and George Kelly are two of many children who have campaigned along with their parents to have speed signs on a busy road.
Holly, aged eight, and George, five, and their fellow pupils at Carr Green School helped the police monitor speed in a bid to build evidence about speed on the roads.
And now their hard work has paid off with the installation of two Vehicle Activated Signs on both sides of Crowtrees Lane, Rastrick.
The signs will warn drivers if they are going too fast.
Justine Kelly, a resident of Crowtrees Lane, is delighted the signs have now been installed.
She said: “I really welcome the introduction of the signs on this busy road – my friends have already commented to me that it’s made them check their speed.”
The campaign started in September 2006 when the Carr Green and Crowtrees Community Action Group was formed by local resident Christine Beal.
Residents and children joined forces with local councillors and were calling for some road safety measures along the busy road.
