A DETECTIVE who has interviewed some of the country’s most notorious criminals has been given the all-clear from bowel cancer.
Detective Constable John Lee was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year after experiencing two years of symptoms.
But he has now just been given the all-clear and described the feeling as amazing.
The Huddersfield CID detective has now thanked all the medical staff who have helped him through his battle.
And now he’s determined to do all he can to help others going through the cancer by holding charity fundraisers.
Det Con Lee said: “It was awesome to be given the clear.
“To be honest I have seen people go through worse than I have in terms of their reaction to the chemotherapy.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to work now as soon as possible.”
The police chief experienced stomach pains, bleeding and needed to go to the toilet regularly long before his diagnosis.
But the demands of the job meant it was difficult for him to find the time to go to a doctor.
He put his symptoms down to long-days working on the Shannon Matthews trial last November.
He even postponed a hospital appointment for a week as he was due to give evidence at the trial.
