Royds High School pupil is a rising star

HER nursery school headteacher said Michaela De Azevedo would be a star when she was just three-years-old.

Now the 16-year-old is well on her way towards an acting career and has clinched a place on a prestigious drama course.

Outgoing Michaela, a Year 11 pupil at Royds Hall High School, was awarded a place on a National Youth Theatre course this summer.

The Marsh girl beat off competition from thousands of other budding drama students.

Mum, Cynthia O’Brien said: “The funniest thing ever was when she was at nursery school in Reinwood.

“She’d only been there for a couple of weeks and I walked in and the headteacher said ‘your daughter’s going to be an actor.’ She’d been performing as Goldilocks for the whole class.”

The 54-year-old said she was very proud of her daughter’s achievements.

“The very fact she’s thought out what she wants to do and went for it shows great strength of character.”
