THREE masked men stole a substantial amount of cash from a Elland bank as a security man was making a delivery this morning.

The armed thieves raided the Lloyds Bank on Southgate, Elland at 11am today.

Police say the robbers were armed with crowbars and made off with a large quantity of cash from the bank’s vault.

They escaped in a Vauxhall car which was later found burnt-out on Saddleworth Road, Elland.

A Lloyds spokeswoman said: "Staff and customers are all ok and police are currently at the scene as part of their investigation."

She said the branch would remained closed while police carried out their investigation.
