Brighouse pool plan decision expected soon

BUILDERS and workmen were invited to get involved in the development of Brighouse’s new swimming pool.

The council and contractors held an open day to invite local traders to work on the multi-million pound development.

And they could be on site soon – the planning decision will be made next Tuesday, June 23, and if approved workers could be on site in August.

It’s part of a council scheme to get Calderdale-based companies involved in the regeneration of the area.

Denise Cherry, of Ploughcroft Ltd, based at Owler Ings Road, Brighouse, attended the meeting with contractors Willmott Dixon.

She said: “It’s great to see the commitment of the council to support local businesses in construction.”

The council invited 21 builders and decorators the event and gave them the opportunity to be interviewed to work on the site.

Earlier this year plans for Brighouse Pool went on display in the town.

A public consultation took place with people submitting comments on the Brighouse Pool plans, due to be built at Wellholme Park.

It has been more than three years since the town’s old pool closed to the disappointment of residents.
