Examiner Community Awards: Young Personality

KELLY Wilson is the best person to understand troubled teens.
The youth worker was once ‘off the rails’ and needed help finding a way out.
But now she is the one young people turn to when they need help, advice or a little guidance in life.
Despite being suspended from school, the 18-year-old from Marsh managed to turn her life around to become an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, run by Prince Charles.
Kelly is thrilled by the award nomination and said that – and the positive reaction she gets from young people – makes it all worthwhile.
The former Royds Hall High School pupil said: "I love every second of my job.
"Working with young people and helping them to get through their problems is something I want to do because I have been there myself so understand them.
"It is an achievement for me as well when they succeed.
"I always had a plan to work with children, but never knew where to get the opportunity.’’
Kelly now works throughout Kirklees running activities for young people where her work is greatly appreciated.
