Huddersfield police turn Dr Who in Tardis project

DOCTOR Who, eat your heart out!
The Tardis has had a revamp – and it’s helping Huddersfield Police.
Officers are again using the famous old blue Tardis-style police box in Almondbury.
It means officers working in the area can spend more time on the beat, rather than having to go back to the police station at Moldgreen to check in.
The listed building on Northgate has been renovated allowing the local Neighbourhood Policing Team officers to use it as their base within the community.
Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team Insp Adrian Waugh says it has literally travelled through time – just like the famous Tardis, used by all the Time Lords.
“Although the Almondbury police box is a remnant of a previous era of policing, the latest technology available to officers has now enabled us to utilise it once again.
“PCSO Karen Buckley, who covers the Almondbury area, has a hand-held Blackberry which allows her to access e-mails and also use it as a phone. This means she does not have to travel all the way back to Moldgreen Police Station to access information and undertake the various aspects of her work.
“We saw the chance to use the space, recognised the positives and decided to take the opportunity. The police box has electricity and water supply which also means PCSO Buckley can spend her break there without having to leave the neighbourhood.
