Children learn to be safe online

CHILDREN will be learning how to stay safe online.

A series of workshops will take place for pupils, parents, carers and teachers next week.

Parents can get advice about how to prevent their children getting into danger online.

While children will be learning about computer safety in school such as not giving out personal information online.

E-safety is the theme of Child Safety Week, which runs from Monday to June 28.

Some schools will also be able to tackle other child safety issues such as road safety.

Two free events will take place for parents to attend and learn more.

A spokeswoman for Kirklees Council said that the two-hour events would involve an interactive presentation with the risks children face online being highlighted.

Parents will be given information on what steps they can take to keep young people safe on home computers.

The free events for parents will take place on June 24 from 7pm until 9pm at the Jubilee Centre in Paddock.

The following day parents can go along to Batley Business and Enterprise College, off Blenheim Drive, from 1pm until 3pm.
