Mirfield puppy fighting for life after being mauled in dog attack

A PUPPY is fighting for its life after a savage dog attack in Mirfield.

Honey, a 16-week-old Shih Tzu, was set upon by a large Japanese Akita while being walked by the stream at Crossley Lane at 2pm on Saturday.

She suffered horrific injuries, including broken ribs and puncture wounds after being clamped in the Akita’s jaws and shaken about.

Honey’s owner, Lisa Pinardi, said it had been ‘touch and go’ whether the tiny puppy would survive.

Now Lisa, 42, is hoping she can trace the owner of the Akita, who ran off following the vicious attack without even saying sorry.

She said: “I was out walking my three puppies with my husband when this lady appeared with this massive dog.

“I bet it was about eight stone.

“My dogs went over. The Akita pulled the lady, she just let go and it attacked my puppy.

“It picked her up in its mouth and ragged her about like a doll.

“We thought our little puppy was dead. She was lying in the street not moving, with blood coming out of her mouth.”

Lisa said the owner of the other dog did nothing to stop the fight and had ‘just bolted’ when she was asked for her name.
