London catwalk date for Laura Smith of Fixby

A FIXBY fashion student was selected to send her creations down the London catwalk.

Laura Smith, a final year student at Manchester Metropolitan University, showed six of her menswear designs at Graduate Fashion Week.

She said: “It’s every fashion student’s dream to show at Graduate Fashion Week and it’s what I’ve been working towards for the past three years.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to have my collection seen by some of the most important people in fashion. ”

The annual event has launched the careers of British designers.

Judges select the best students to display their clothes at Earls Court.

Laura said: “My design style is quite preppy and a geek-chic with bright colours and checks.”
