WEDS PM: Colne Valley High School closed due to strike action on Thursday

"The school is still in negotiation with the union to find a way forward in this dispute.

"The dispute centres around five of our 88 teachers whose posts have been altered in a recent restructuring. The restructuring was consulted upon extensively with staff and governors.

"All staff jobs are secure and any loss of salary is safeguarded for three years in line with national pay and conditions.

"The restructuring was carried out as part of our drive to raise standards at Colne Valley.

"We are committed to improving standards throughout teaching and learning to allow the school to become outstanding.

"The new staffing structure is essential to achieve this and has the full support of the governing body."
