Fifty scarecrows draw crowds to Thurstonland
FIFTY full-size scarecrows and a batch of mini scarecrows formed a special trail in Thurstonland.
The second annual scarecrow trail was hailed a major success with the life-size models displayed throughout the village.
Local schoolchildren boosted the numbers by creating a crowd of mini-scarecrows, all of which were on display at Thurstonland Endowed First School.
Local folk group Fyrish played at St Thomas’s Church and band members created their own snake-charming scarecrow especially for the event.
Event organiser Lisa Difford, said: “Whilst it’s nice to raise funds for local groups, the real magic of this event is in getting local people of all ages wandering through the village chatting to each other and welcoming visitors. It’s a nice start to the summer and we can now all look forward to the gala on Saturday July 4.”
