Vandals halt work on cricket club
VANDALS have stopped improvement work at a family cricket club.
Nuffield Cricket Club, Birkby Hall Road, Birkby, has been plagued by vandalism since April.
Now the club has decided to suspend work on the clubhouse after vandals attacked the back and side of the building on two consecutive nights this week.
On Monday yobs yanked a window frame and security grille off the home changing room.
And they returned the following night to pull a window frame and grill off the kitchen wall.
The hooligans then scattered the contents of the kitchen, including kettles, on the ground outside.
Two months ago yobs broke into a shed and stole lawnmower while at the end of May vandals broke into the home changing room and burnt a hole in the floor.
The club, which has 50 players and three teams playing in the Huddersfield Central League, has received development grants from Kirklees Council and Sport England to improve the clubhouse, which is approximately 25 years old.
