Vandals halt work on Nuffield Cricket Club

But the club, which has being going for over 75 years, has decided to suspend all improvement work until the vandalism stops.

Chairman Max Ahmed said: “I’m really fed up of it. It just seems to be a bit of fun for them. Nothing’s been stolen.

“This is the first time in the history of the club that we’ve had this sort of damage.

“This is a family club and we’re trying to encourage the community to get involved.

“It’s just sheer stupidity by these vandals.

“We think it’s got to be someone local because they keep coming back.

“We’re considering rebuilding the pavilion now because it’s going to cost so much to repair.

“We’ve had £4,000 so far from Kirklees and Sport England but since the vandalism has started we’ve decided to hold spending back.

“We’re stuck until this stops.”
