Huddersfield KFC diner in racial abuse to staff
A MAN shouted racist abuse at a KFC employee and assaulted two police officers.
Nigel Lashington, of St Philips Court, Birchencliffe, pleaded guilty to three charges at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 44-year-old was charged with racially aggravated harassment and two charges of assaulting police.
Roger Woodward, prosecuting, said Lashington went to the KFC on Westbourne Road in Marsh on May 28.
Police were called after the Birchencliffe man shouted at a Polish worker telling him to speak English.
The court heard that Lashington shouted at the man, saying : “You’re in our country, you should be speaking English.”
Mr Woodward said Lashington had told the Polish man that the Polish were taking all the jobs in England.
When the police came to arrest him, Lashington was said to have spat at them, which he admitted in interview.
