POLICE have swooped in Huddersfield to make five arrests in a two-day operation – which also saw them seizing a drugs haul.
Operation Focus targeted crime and antisocial behaviour in the Greenhead and Ashbrow wards.
The police worked with other organisations – such as Customs and Excise, the DVLA and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing – stopping cars and targeting individuals in the areas.
Police arrested five people and a sixth was cautioned for cannabis possession.
Twelve cars were taken off the road because they were not insured and 14 cars were given prohibition orders for having defects.
Automatic number plate recognition technology snapped 111 people who were wanted for a variety of reasons from having no car tax to theft.
Sgt Michael Semenczuk from Kirklees Police said: “Three of the arrests were for possessing drugs with intent to supply. We made these arrests after stopping and searching two different cars at random that happened to contain a large amount of drugs.”
