New Pubwatch scheme starts in Holmfirth

IF you are banned from one, you’re banned from them all.

That’s the message being sent to troublemakers as licensed premises come together in Holmfirth in a newly formed Pubwatch scheme.

It currently involves 10 members and works in partnership with the Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team and Kirklees Licensing.

The aim of the scheme is to achieve a safe, secure, social drinking environment in all licensed premises to help reduce drink-related crime, disorder and underage drinking.

Already since Holmfirth Pubwatch was set up, one person has been served a banning order.

Inspector Mark Trueman of the Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The scheme has been started up by both local pubs and licensed restaurants in Holmfirth centre to ensure they are all aware of incidents where bar staff or customers have been intimidated by certain individuals.
