Subaru crash victim Leigh Sedgewick's grave desecrated by vandals

THE GRAVE of a father killed in a high speed crash has been vandalised – a little more than two weeks before the anniversary of his death.

Leigh Sedgwick was killed when his car hit a lamp-post, on Bradford Road, Brackenhall, at around 6am on July 16, 2005.

Leigh, 28, of Bradley, was laid to rest at Woodhouse Cemetery, Deighton, following a procession led by a horse-drawn hearse on July 22 2005.

But yobs struck around Monday night, desecrating the father-of- three’s grave.

And family and friends believe Mr Sedgwick’s memorial was deliberately targeted as all surrounding graves remained untouched.

Vandals broke a flowerpot on Leigh’s grave, smashed a stone memorial and pulled off a stone picture of Mr Sedgwick and cracked it.

Leigh’s mum Lyn Dancaster, 56, of Bradley, made the grim discovery yesterday while visiting a convenience shop across the road.

Miss Dancaster said: "I’m shaking like a leaf. When I saw it I went crackers. He was loved. I just thought it was disgusting.
