McFly to headline Dewsbury concert - pictures

TOP pop band McFly are heading to Kirklees.

The chart-topping boy band will headline this year’s Party in the Park – a free event, taking place on August 23 in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury.

The concert is on the same day that McFly grace the main stage at the V Festival, and following their performance in Staffordshire they will be whisked up to Kirklees.

Organisers of the concert expect thousands of people will be ready to sing along to their big hits such as All About You and Lies.

The band shot to stardom after they first found fame in 2004. Since then, they’ve had a total of seven number one singles and two number one albums and played to audiences around the world.

Other bands on the Party In the Park line-up have yet to be confirmed.

Clr David Sheard, cabinet member for regeneration (North Kirklees) said: “I’m delighted to be able to announce that McFly are performing at this year’s Party in the Park.

“It’s a real coup for us to be able to bring such a huge band to Kirklees and will be a fantastic boost to Dewsbury.

“We’re expecting huge numbers of people to flock to Crow Nest Park to enjoy the concert this August. I hope that everyone will come along, enjoy the live music and have a good time.”

Council officers are currently in talks with other well-known acts that will perform before McFly come on stage towards the end of the day.

The support acts will be announced in the next few weeks.
