Newsome vandals attack 20 cars in same street

THUGS scratched 20 cars in the same Newsome street on the same night, running up a damage bill of many thousands of pounds.

Residents on Towngate woke to find their vehicles had been badly vandalised after two men were seen scraping an entire row of parked cars as the owners slept.

The incident happened around 3.30am on Thursday.

A householder – whose family had a total of five cars damaged in the blitz – raised the alarm after being woken by a loud scraping noise.

The caller’s sister Laura Humphries, 23, was among those whose cars were attacked.

She was devastated to find the blue Renault Clio she bought just a week ago had been keyed down one side.

She said: “I’m so annoyed, but I know it happens. They are just idiots.

“I don't really want to claim for something like this so I am just going to have to pay to get it repaired.

“We have five in the family to get done so we’ll get them done together.”

Neighbour Brian Murphy was furious to discover his black BMW had been scraped for the second time in two weeks.

He said: “It has already been done a week ago and now it is down both sides. Everyone down here has been done. I just discovered it this morning.
