Roundhill Inn pub plans to improve car parking

A BRIGHOUSE pub’s plans to improve its car park have sparked a row.

The Roundhill Inn, at Clough Lane, has applied to Calderdale Council’s planning department for permission to build a new car park with barriers and lighting on land opposite the pub.

But some people living nearby have reacted angrily to the idea.

A total of 15 objections to the plan have been lodged with Calderdale planners from people concerned about increased car traffic at Clough Lane and the dangers of customers crossing the road from the pub to the car park.

Residents also fear the car park would increase night-time noise and the lights would disturb people living nearby.

One objector, Robert Broadley, said one of the objections lodged was actually a petition with 85 signatures.

He said: “It is opposite a residential area almost on green belt land.
