Second Moldgreen crime house closed after antisocial behaviour

SHUTTERS have gone up at a second Moldgreen house where its tenants fuelled antisocial behaviour.

The property, 82 Church Lane, is the second in the area to be officially closed by magistrates in a bid to cut antisocial behaviour and nuisance.

Samantha Mallinson and Karl Wood are both registered tenants of the house.

Mallinson appeared at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday where she and Wood, who did not attend, were banned from entering the property.

The 36-year-old’s defence was that the ongoing incidents, which continued up until last Thursday, began after a football game got out of hand.

Mallinson said the violence, antisocial behaviour and neighbourhood nuisance that connected to her property, snowballed to the point where someone involved in the game held a gun as she and her family were threatened.

Prosecutor Geoff Bell said her house, along with one closed last week, were at the forefront of much of the area’s problems.

He said: “There has been persistent disorder present at the address with the type of behaviour continuing up to court last week.”

Last Wednesday, the day after the closure order papers were handed to the defendants, there was a further disturbance.
