‘Stop the leak in Marsh’ plea to Yorkshire water company

IT began as a trickle.

But now it’s pouring out enough water to fill a bathtub every few minutes.

And bemused residents in Marsh are still waiting for Yorkshire Water to repair the roadside leak – FOUR WEEKS after they first reported it.

Two lots of roadworkers have turned up to look at the leak, which is at the junction of Heatherfield Road and Jim Lane.

The first crew stuffed sandbags in the hole and put up a diversionary sign to alert drivers.

Two weeks later, more workers turned up and dug a large trench at the side of the leak.

They barricaded off the excavations, put up signs – and left.

Since then, nothing.

Local resident Anthony Hodge, who reported the leak at the start of June, has kept a photographic record of the work, or lack of it.

“We are all baffled. I know it’s not pouring out of the road like a torrent but it is still a massive waste of water.
