Police search for vandals after more car attacks are revealed

THUGS who left a trail of car vandalism in Newsome also targeted a neighbouring street, it has emerged.

Around a dozen more cars were scratched on Edale Avenue during an early-morning rampage on Thursday.

Yesterday, the Examiner reported how vandals scraped 20 cars in Towngate.

Now, more car owners have contacted police to say the yobs also struck on Edale Avenue – the street opposite – on the same night.

David Waite was among those who woke on Thursday to find his new Ford Fiesta had been attacked.

He said: “I’m gutted – we all are. It is going to cost me £250 to get it resprayed. That is cheap because it is pearlescent paint. I’d be looking at almost £1,000 at some places.

“A lot of the older people are too frightened to say anything so might not have rung the police, but I know five cars were done where I live and a few more further on. I just don’t get it.”

Meanwhile, vandals damaged eight cars on street.
