Halifax Road all set to open again today

"We would like to thank everyone affected by our work on Halifax Road for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused."

The road will still be closed during today’s morning commute, but the Examiner understands that it should be reopened around lunchtime.

Stretches of the road, between the Ainley Top roundabout and Birkby Road, have been closed over the past three months. Motorists coming off the M62 have had to take diversions along Lindley Moor Road and New Hey Road or through Rastrick, Fixby and Bradford Road to get into Huddersfield town centre.

A shuttle bus, paid for by United Utilities, ran on the Birchington and Briarlyn estates in Birchencliffe to help elderly people who needed to get out and about.
