Impressive new look for Newsome and Stile Common school

THE FUTURE looks bright and green for children and families in Stile Common and Newsome.
The new Hillside Primary School is under construction off Headfield Road and it is to become the most environmentally friendly within Kirklees.
Solar panels, a wind turbine and biomass boiler using compressed wood pellets and a grey water system to recycle water will all ensure this is an energy efficient school with the greenest of credentials.
And the new school uniform featuring green sweatshirts and specially designed logo will ensure pupils are as green on the outside as the building is on the inside.
Dawn Horton, who is to be headteacher of the new school when Stile Common Infant and Nursery and Junior Schools merge said: “The whole aim of this eco friendly building is to teach the children and the community about sustainability and the world around them.
“The stunning views, huge classrooms and excellent facilities will create a school second to none. I usually cry every time I visit, I am so proud of what is being created here.”
