Plea over Huddersfield shop thieves

THEFTS from our shops is still a major concern in Huddersfield.

And it seems that there is no limit to how brazen some of the criminals will be.

Take these two examples from a filling station shop Manchester Road, Milnsbridge.

The thieves stole jars of coffee – and then brazenly returned just seconds later, to steal packs of cheese.

Both made no attempt to pay and both made no attempts to disguise their identities, either from shop staff or from the cameras.

The thefts came on June 2 at the Colne Valley Service Station.

The two suspects entered the shop and selected two jars of Kenco coffee from a display.

Both hid the jars and made their way out of the store making no attempt to pay. Seconds later the same suspects returned and walked directly to the cheese section.

There they selected a 12-sleeve display of Cathedral City cheeses and walked out of the store, again making no attempt to pay.

Both suspects then ran off.

These are the latest in a spate of thefts from shops, who are targeted despite their best efforts at security.

Most shops of any size now have security cameras but the thieves are prepared to walk in, take goods from displays and walk out, even though they know they are being caught on camera.
