Huddersfield vet helps one tubby Lady

WEIGHT is important for most women.
And Lady the dog was no different.
But in her case it could have meant the difference between life and death.
She was dreadfully obese when she was handed over to staff at the West Yorkshire Dog Rescue, based at Marsden, and they found no-one wanted to take on the problems of an overweight dog.
Cue vet Rhona Warnock and the staff at the Donaldson and Partners’ surgery in Birchencliffe.
They offered Lady a special course of treatment on their hydrotherapy pool and underwater treadmill – and it proved a success.
She quickly shed the pounds, recovered from heart problems and is now settled into a new life with new owners in Keighley.
She’s also sharing her new home with her brother Rex, who was also taken in by the Dog Rescue team after the dogs’ owners had to move into sheltered housing and could not take their pets.
Kathy Trout, of Dog Rescue, said: “Lady’s had a particularly sad time of it. Her owners were very elderly and had to move into care and give them up.
