Colne Valley school yobs caught on camera

THESE brazen yobs caused £10,000 damage at a Huddersfield school.

Now police and the school’s headteacher hope these damning CCTV images will help lead to their arrest.

Ironically, the yobs were captured on the very camera they were trying to smash at Colne Valley Specialist Art College.

They succeeded in destroying two of the cameras and their dome mountings in the school’s CCTV system, even though they were placed 16 feet off the ground.

The yobs used a large wooden pole to shatter the glass.

The damage was committed at 9.15pm on June 12 but police have just released the images which their technical experts have retrieved from the damaged units.

The 1,500-pupil Linthwaite school is the biggest high school in Kirklees.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Huddersfield CID, said: “The yobs used a large wooden pole to smash the cameras but were obviously caught on the film before they succeeded in breaking the unit.

“It was malicious damage and the school has estimated the cost at £10,000.

“We have been working with school staff to try to identify the culprits but now we hope these images will help us catch them.”

Headteacher Carol Gormley is determined not to let the vandals win.
