Colne Valley school yobs caught on camera

She said: “It is a blow to the school. We have been very successful in the past year in reducing the amount of malicious damage, almost down to zero, and it is particularly disappointing that we appear to have been targeted in such a deliberate way.

“We have worked very hard to cut down damage and one reason for that is we have worked very closely with our local police.

“For that reason I fully support their actions in trying to identify the hooligans.”

The school was opened in 1956 on the Gillroyd Lane site and at the time was England’s first purpose-built comprehensive school.

It has recently been designated a Specialist Arts status college, recognising strengths in the fields of performing arts, music and drama.

The school is currently modernising its facilities and will soon be able to offer a state-of-the art music technology suite and a first-class dance studio as well as a theatre.

Both yobs were white and were wearing light-coloured hooded tops. They are thought to be in their teens.

Anyone who knows them or witnessed the incident, or who saw anything suspicious in the Gillroyd Lane area of Linthwaite on the evening of June 12, is asked to contact either Pc Angie Lister or PCSO Midgley by calling 0845 6060606 or ringing Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
