Injured Huddersfield cricketer flies back to Australia

Clayton West chairman Simon Thornhill said: "It is good news he has been able to go home with mum Jeanette, who came over while he was in hospital, but he faces 12 months of treatment.

"He has to have intensive therapy and cannot work, cannot play cricket and cannot drink for a year.

"He had a lot of work done in the rehab unit at Chapel Allerton and a new scan revealed the bleeding on his brain had eased.

"We are still going ahead with a benefit match on August 23 because he will need help for a long time. The money raised so far – other clubs have been very generous – helped meet his air fares."
