Marsden pub The Swan has sound system seized after noise nuisance

A MARSDEN pub has had its sound system seized after complaints about noise.

Speakers and amplification equipment were taken from The Swan pub at Station Road by police officers, working with Kirklees Environmental Services.

It is the first time Kirklees officers have removed equipment from a commercial premises to stop noise nuisance.

A spokesman for environmental services said all other measures had been attempted.

But landlady Mandy Hester says she has had no advice about when she can play music and how loud it can be.

She said: “They sent me a notice but it wasn’t very specific. It seems that they are trying to stop me having any entertainment at all.”

A series of complaints began from three residents about loud discos and bands at the end of May. Concerns were also raised about noise from people outside the pub.

Noise officers visited six times in six weeks and monitored the noise from inside homes and in the street.
