Marsh woman rescues old painting from the tip

“And they didn’t know what I was talking about, so we just forgot about it.
“But one of our barmaids still worked there and she it had gone in the garage and it was waiting to go to the tip – I said, never. She said yes.”
Margaret said the new landlords no longer wanted the painting and the brewery said it wouldn’t go with the decor.
So she took the painting home and stored it in her loft.
She said: “It has a name on the painting saying ‘Jno Ed Shaw and has the date 1883.
“I’m wondering if somebody can trace their ancestral history to him – there’s bound to be ancestors of him in the area.
“I’d also like to know how much it is worth and if anyone knows anything about the man in the painting.”
