Charity fun day for Huddersfield baby with rare cancer
Thousands flocked to the YMCA sports complex at Laund Hill, to enjoy a family day of delights and help raise charity cash for baby cancer sufferer Ruddi. Nick Lavigueur reports:
A CHARITY fun day boosted the coffers of the appeal to help baby cancer victim Ruddi.
More than 2,000 people turned up in support of Ruddi to enjoy live music, games and fair rides at the YMCA at Laund Hill.
Mum Ali Jones said she expected to raise almost £5,000 for Candlelighters children’s cancer charity, the Sick Children’s Trust and ward 10 at St James’s Hospital in Leeds where Ruddi has been treated.
She said: “It’s been amazing today it’s absolutely packed.
“Andy Booth got knocked out of the five-a-side football tournament, but it’s gone very very well.”
The day of fun was extended into the evening with an auction, including a signed football donated by Andy Booth, a raffle and a disco.
Ruddi, of Lowergate, Paddock, was perfectly healthy before he started to experience problems going to thetoilet when he was seven months old.
