Friends of tragic car crash teen walk from Rastrick to Brighouse in her memory
FRIENDS of a teenager who died in a car crash will do a sponsored walk in memory of their ‘amazing mate’.
Sixteen-year-olds Alice Enderby, Fiona Nicolson and Shoni Gale, of Rastrick, will walk in remembrance of friend Shannen Harker.
The girls will join a group of volunteers from Rastrick High School for the walk – exactly one year since Shannen died after the car her dad was driving crashed.
Shannen’s dad Stephen Rushworth also died after the smash at Bailiff Bridge, Brighouse.
The group of walkers have just finished at the Field Top Road school.
Fiona said: “Obviously finishing school has been hard without Shannen, but it’s getting better.”
Alice added: “She was a great girl and an amazing mate and she was very friendly.
“It’s strange a year on without her.
“But that’s why we wanted to do this walk in memory of her.”
The girls have printed special hoodies with a picture of Shannen on the front.
They’ve already been busily collecting sponsorship from friends and family for the seven-mile walk.
The cash they raise will go towards the West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not-Trust and The Joseph Salmon Trust.
