“Unfortunately I had no contacts in architecture so I thought I could do that later.
“The cafe is doing well and I’m starting to enjoy it.”
Back in Argentina, Gustavo used to have his own design company working with big clients such as Panasonic and Electrolux.
But he still managed to find the time to paint and said it had taken him longer than he wanted to get going in this country.
He now has a studio at Marsh Mills which will be opened up to the public later in September.
Gustavo said feedback from his six-week LBT exhibition had generally been good but admitted most people either loved it or hated it.
“Some of the pictures were sold,” he said.
“Lots of people from Milnsbridge have gone to see it.
“They were very surprised that some guy that was cooking bacon had amazing pictures there.”
Gustavo will be taking part in the ‘Host’ open studio trail over the weekend of September 19/20 and will be creating an installation at LBT entitled Compliments to Shadows.
