Man left critically ill after attack at Ricky’s bar

A MAN is critically ill after being attacked outside a Leeds Road pub.

The 54-year-old was attacked by a gang of men outside Ricky’s bar, after enjoying a quiet pint.

The victim remains in hospital although police have said he has been getting better over the weekend.

Police have described it as “an unprovoked and vicious attack” on the man who was alone inside the pub at the time.

Over the weekend the pub was closed and sealed off while scenes of crime investigators looked for evidence.

Police have since arrested two men in connection with the attack and have been holding them for questioning.

Det Sup Sukhbir Singh, of West Yorkshire’s Force Homicide and Major Inquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, said: “This appears to have been a totally unprovoked vicious attack which has now left a man very seriously ill in hospital.

“I would appeal for anyone who may have been either in Ricky’s Bar on Friday night or around the area locally and can help us with our inquiries to call us.”

The man, believed to be from the local area, was drinking alone inside the pub shortly before 11pm.

Some customers said he was playing on the games machines when the gang targeted him.
