Youth badly hurt in stolen car crash in Huddersfield
A TEENAGER remained “critically ill” in hospital last night after a stolen car drama in Huddersfield.
The 19-year-old is in Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.
He was thought to have been at the wheel of a stolen sports car which crashed in Trinity Street early yesterday.
Rescuers found the youth slumped at the side of the crashed vehicle.
The busy road – which links the town centre with Marsh and with the M62 – was closed for more than eight hours after the incident.
The car is thought to have been stolen earlier in the day from the Holme Valley area, but last night police were still making further inquiries.
They stressed that the car was not being followed by police at the time of the crash.
The injured youth has not been named.
Police traffic officers and scenes of crime experts pored over the scene, close to Greenhead Park, for hours.
