Brighouse man left critically ill in street attack

A MAN was “critically ill” in hospital last night after being attacked outside his home.

The man, named locally as Sean Ellis, 35, was attacked on Smith House Avenue, Hove Edge, Brighouse, at around 7pm on Saturday night.

He is believed to have suffered a fractured skull after being hit on the head with a blunt object and was yesterday in intensive care at Leeds General Infirmary.

Police sealed off the street on Saturday night until yesterday afternoon.

Forensics experts combed the scene and officers made door-to-door enquiries.

Neighbours described Mr Ellis, who is believed to live with his partner and two teenage children, as a quiet and polite person.

It is thought Mr Ellis works for a civil engineering firm in Bradford.
