ANIMALS were the subject of an art group oil painting session. Last week’s meeting of the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Art Society featured a demonstration by Baildon artist Jeremy Taylor. He worked on two paintings, an impressionist-style ram’s head and a detailed study of a male duck. He was thanked by chairwoman Irene Scott. FIREFIGHTERS spent two hours battling a house fire yesterday. They were called to the home at Inglewood Avenue in Birkby at 2.30pm. Crews from Huddersfield and Elland tackled the blaze by removing roof tiles to get to the flames. The fire, which began accidentally, damaged the roof and a small part of the loft. Read
