£100k cannabis bust in Longwood is one of the biggest

PLANTS worth about £100,000 were seized from one of the biggest cannabis factories ever busted in Huddersfield.

Officers from the Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team recovered 300 plants from a house on Rock Street in Longwood.

Sgt Simon Haigh said: "This is one of the largest drugs seizures in the valleys to date."

He said officers discovered a professional growing operation in the raid.

"All the first-floor rooms and attic had been converted to grow cannabis plants," he added.

"Officers seized the plants and electrical equipment.

"We are dedicated to acting on people’s concerns and this latest seizure is an example of what can be done if residents let us know what is happening in their neighbourhood."

More than 100 cannabis factories have been uncovered in Kirklees in the last year.

Police are still looking for the occupants of the Longwood house.

Sgt Haigh said the bust was the latest in a string of swoops on farms in the Colne and Holme valley.
