£100k cannabis bust in Longwood is one of the biggest
Aug 20 2009 By Sam Casey
As reported in January, two arrests were made after cannabis farms were found in raids on West Avenue and Station Road in Honley in the same week.
Sgt Haigh said: "We have had great success this year in disrupting the supply of cannabis in the valleys area.
"We already received much information from members of the community about suspicious activities and possible cannabis factories."
Insp Mark Trueman urged people to look out for giveaway signs.
He said: "Cannabis factories can emit a strong and unusual smell and neighbours may hear noises while a factory is being set up.
"They may also see people coming and going with bags and other equipment such as powerful lights.
"It is likely curtains will be kept closed, but bright lights may appear to be left on around the clock.
"Residents living in the street are again likely to see various comings and goings."
He said landlords should be wary of tenants who always pay rent in cash and who refuse entry to the property.
