Kids get sporty at playscheme

YOU don’t have to rely on pricey trips away to keep the kids entertained this summer.

Just ask the children taking part in the Sporting Playscheme at Huddersfield Sports Centre, being run during the school holidays.

There dozens of activities are on offer to make sure the kids never get bored, from football, swimming, climbing and martial arts right through to arts and crafts and cookery.

The playscheme, part of the Summer Buzz programme of activities organised by Kirklees Active Leisure, is in its third year catering for children aged five to 14.

Louise Smith, who helps organise the activities, said: “The children really enjoy themselves at the playschemes and they are also great for busy mums and dads who can drop them off before they go to work.

“We can offer the kids a huge variety of activities to ensure they’ll never get bored and we’re introducing new ones all the time.

“They get the chance to explore sports they’ve never done before and hopefully find new interests and skills they will keep up when they go home.
