Dewsbury man made frudulent insurance claims to value of £46,000

Mr Baker said the claim was made following a staged collision by Patel, who admits conspiracy to defraud, at 3pm on October 25 2005. The collision occurred at the Eden Point roundabout on the A34 at Cheadle – just hours after Patel, 24, staged another collision at the same spot.

Mr Baker said a Volvo ran into the Audi that Patel was driving, causing a few scratches. When the parties exchanged details Patel gave Rashid Shaikh’s name.

The prosecutor said that, following this incident, the Audi was reversed into a post so it could be classed as “written off,” adding that at the same time the “accident” occurred, Iqbal Khan was hiring a new car to replace his “damaged” one.

Both Iqbal and Ershad Khan have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud. Shaikh denies one count of conspiracy to defraud between January 1 2005 and June 10 2008, claiming his name was used without his permission or knowledge.
