Huddersfield Company Code Blue ransacked in £20,000 burglary
Aug 20 2009 by Sam Casey, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Twenty minutes later a security guard for a neighbouring firm saw two men running off with a hold-all and a crowbar.
As well as the Apple Mac laptops, they took an X-Box games console and games and a number of cameras and camcorders from the company’s studio.
Mr O’Brien added: “The machines can be replaced – that’s what you pay insurance for.
“It’s more the inconvenience of the machines being stolen.
“The information on the laptops is of absolutely no use to anyone apart from us.
“There’s a lot of personal stuff on them as well – personal photographs and things.”
The burglars also caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to the inside of the premises.
Mr O’Brien said: “It puts us back about a week in terms of work until we can go and buy more products.
“We are big enough to cope, but that’s not the point. The inconvenience is phenomenal.”
CCTV pictures from the premises are now being looked at and police are examining forensic evidence including fingerprints.
The company has had to employ security guards to patrol the premises until repairs are carried out.
The two thieves were described as being in their late teens or early 20s and wearing sports clothing.
Anyone with information should call Huddersfield CID on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
